Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
CPR classes
are conducted by trained, professional staff. After successfully
completing the class,
you will be certified by the American Heart Association for
two years.
CPR involves a combination of mouth-to-mouth rescue breathing
(or other artificial ventilation
techniques) and chest compressions. CPR helps to maintain some
oxygenated blood flowing to the
brian and other vital organs until appropriate medical treatment
can restore normal heart action.
Approximately two-thirds of sudden deaths due to coronary heart
disease occur outside of the
hospital. Many of these deaths can be prevented by calling 911
and then initiating CPR.
