Pediatric and Women’s Health
The Maternal Child
Health and Family Services Unit promotes increasing health
access and care for
Asian and Pacific Islander women, children, and their families.
The Maternal and Child Unit seeks to:
- Increase Food Stamp utilization among the Asian and
Pacific Islander community, assessing current community
knowledge of the Food Stamp program and evaluate the
effectiveness of grass-roots outreach and technology
in increasing awareness and utilization.
- Outreach to low-income families who are in need of
health benefits and services.
- Provide
health education workshops and assistance to Asian and
Pacific Islander families to increase awareness and
knowledge of the importance of child preventive health,
health programs for which they may qualifty, and available
services in Los Angeles County.
- Improve
birth outcomes in the Southeast Asian community by implementing
a linguistically and culturally sensitive home visitation
program for prenatal and postpartum clients by conducting
health education relevant to expectant and new mothers
in their homes and encouraging healthy nutritihomeon,
safety, and environmental safety.
- Improve
immunization service delivery for Asian and Pacific
Islander children as well as increase their immunization
rates, targeting low-income and Limited English Proficiency
Asian and Pacific Islanders.
- Increase access to culturally and linguistically appropriate
perinatal care for Asian and Pacific Islander families
in Los Angeles County by increasing direct perinatal
services and developing culturally appropriate health
education and support services.

Youth
The Real Youth Center’s (RYC) mission is to empower youth to develop into physically, emotionally, mentally, healthy individuals. Through participating in programs and services, youth will have the opportunity to develop themselves into critical and effective leaders. RYC offers a variety of services including clinical services for youth ages 12 to 19 years, sexual health education, nutrition counseling and support groups, socialization groups, fitness activities, dance workshops, martial arts, yoga, and recreational and educational field trips.

Adult & Senior Services
The Adult and Senior Services Cluster providers Asian and Pacific Islander adult and seniors with
assistance, education, and information to become more self-sufficient and independent through
access to health care, health promotion activities, economic development within the health field, and
resources. The Cluster’s programs include chronic disease management, integrated mental health,
Medicare and Medicare Part D enrollment assistance, transportation assistance, and social and
